Preparation of Detailed spatial development plans and technical design for the project “Modernization of the railway line Sofia – Plovdiv reailway sections Sofia – Elin Pelin and Elin Pelin – Septemvri”: Section Elin Pelin – Ihtiman

Specific objectives of the modernization of the railway section Sofia-Elin Pelin and Elin Pelin – Septemvri, are improving safety of railway section, increasing speed along the railway section, increasing capacity and reduction of the environment pollution.

The project concerns the design of two concrete railway bridges on two tracks.


Bridge 30+217 km

  • Consists of 6 middle spans with length of 30 m and 2 end spans with length of 27 m. The entire length of the facility is 234 m.
  • The facility is situated in a horizontal curve with a radius of 1500 m on the left track in the direction Ihtiman and 1504 m on the right track.
  • Reinforced concrete frame construction.
  • One spans of the structure consists of 8 precast concrete beams with a length of 22 m and a weight 35 tons.
  • The beams are joined by cast in situ reinforced concrete plate.
  • The substructure contains of cast in situ reinforced concrete abutments directly connected to the superstructure and mainstays.
  • The foundation is provided by cast “hanging” piles with Ø1,2 m and length of 20 m.
  • At both ends of the facility are provided dilatation joints.
  • Behind the mainstay has a retaining wall that takes the action of earth pressure.

Bridge 30+756 km

  • Consists of 12 middle spans with length of 30 m and 2 end spans with length of 27 m. The entire length of the facility is 414 m.
  • The facility is situated in a horizontal curve with a radius of 1500 m on the left track in the direction Ihtiman and 1504 m on the right track.
  • Reinforced concrete frame construction.
  • One spans of the structure consists of 8 precast concrete beams with a length of 22 m and a weight 35 tons.
